Namo Buddha

The Thranga Tashi Yangtse Monastery is an ancient and beautiful Tibetan Buddhist holy site also known as Namo Buddha. After three nights in Kathmandu, we drove the two hours along many a winding mountain road out to the Namo Buddha Resort to take a small hike to the monastery and enjoy the cool breezes and quiet atop one of the larger Himalayan foothills. While we were there we met 8 folks on an Intrepid tour, and we had a guide on our hike to the monastery. At the monastery we sat in an afternoon ceremony, but were not allowed to take photos inside the temple. During our hike we toured the many buildings and shrines, and learned some of the legends and history of the site. Here are some pix of the monastery, the surrounding hills, Tibetan prayer flags, some fellow travellers, and our little house in the mountains…

Here’s a pano of the Namo Buddha monastery, from the temple to the prayer flags…IMG_4873

This set of pix includes the old monastery and the old village which is adjacent to the new complex…

The food at the Namo Buddha resort was particularly outstanding & healthy…

And the next morning we were able to glimpse some of the Himalayan mountain tops in the distance. When we arrived and shortly after this pic was taken they disappear into the haze and clouds.IMG_4912

  1. All so very interesting–sooo much to take-in. You must get exhausted and then sleep well all night long?!!!!! OOs to each of you dear ones– XO

  2. What up D,

It looks like there’s some air pollution issues up thar.

What would Budda do? Cough probably.

So did you literally drive up the Himalayas? That’s some serious elevation gain.

I was thinking you should hit up Peru or somewhere just to say you hit every habitable continent…

I finished your book and I almost shed a tear. I liked the euthenasia part then prego!

We are not by the way, but maybe soon!

As for the requested critique you wanted for your book, what parts do you want me to check?

My first question is who is your audience?

When you answer that, I can probably give you more specific feedback.

It reminded me of our lunch time philosophasizing at times.

I sent the tumbleweed video because it was from UCR, your old hood, and it was mildly entertaining.

I wouldn’t read into the outlaw frankenstein tumbleweed as a metaphor for much.

On the conspiracy side of things, have you heard about the wikileaked Panama Papers?

Apparently rich people hide their money in off shore accounts with shell companies.

Speaking of which, the company that owns our house is named V mortgage and they don’t have a website or anything.

So it’s hard to get ahold of them and know anything. So we’re still in limbo waiting for closing even though they accepted our offer and everything else.

We haven’t found a house that compares so we’ll just hurry up and wait some more.

Spring has sprung and the kids are going wild.

I’m having to crack the whip a bit because the sap rises strong in these parts.

    That’s about all for now.

When are you going up Everest?

P.S. I saw a funny bumper sticker that said:

Abstinence makes the church grow fondlers
