As in the recent past, I’m just documenting a few months of life since ML & I went to Hawaii (in part 2). However, momentous things have happened in my little life, and I’m not going to discuss them (yet. In a word, Hemingway’s ugliest word, retirement [he’s wrong, its beautiful, and apparently the poor sap didn’t have a pension?]). Yet, as we’ve seen, brief forays into nature, the business of life, random moments, and myriad events populate these pages – as now…
The first is an OK art photo of a burnt ridge looking east from Highway 1. The second, better, sand & water! Third, driftwood housing. Then, spring flowers, a look at the Easter Egg Hunt site & sign (oh deer!), yet more wildflowers. And, one of this post’s themes is the overlap of events…

Overlap? The Easter Egg Hunt from sign to reality. Kayaks, bikes, SC w/kids, one of ML’s concerts, and an indication of a Crockett family visit – their two kids: Sophie & Isaac. Then, more than a couple photos of the revitalizing of the riding ring executed by Ray Harless. Finally, the 4th of July sign, our new roof project, and one shot of one aspect of a really terrific pool season.
To elaborate, both kids were lifeguards again, Charlie the “head,” and I swam my half hour almost everyday (tho’ it opened late and closed early(. Related, with help from Alan Burr, Corinne Poulson took my place as the CLHG Recreation Director and she was great in organizing both the Easter Egg Hunt and the 4th of July Picnic.

The next batch features some Art projects, but I recommend checking out the SCAA website, specifically the Kid Art page which I made based on much student work from the 22-23 school year: https://www.scaa-artists.org/copy-of-youth-art (unfortunately this link will change eventually).
The first two are La Honda Fair signs the students helped with based on graphics from Dan Newitt. There are a few more samples of student art, then more signs they helped with for the Pescadero Art & Fun Festival. I included Will Coffey’s portrait of John Green, the curricular saint of my last couple years teaching. (Love that guy: check out Crash Course, and more…)

Another pretty random batch, starting with the Pigeon Point tide pools, a banana slug, dew drops, and an unreleased dandelion. Then, dinner with the kids at Ruby & Boman’s, the bookshelves in my old classroom, and one of the SCAA art signs. The set concludes with my paint job of the mud room in our house (done with leftover paint at zero cost, and done when the roof was being replaced), and Veronica at the beach…

I’ll try again having WordPress upload some video clips, tho’ I should (and may eventually) use YouTube. The first is a particularly enormous banana slug wandering in the yard, then Veronica’s dip in the sea, and finally Charlie’s attempted defense of his title in the balloon stomp at the 4th of July Picnic. Almost…
It’s cold!
It’s fast!
Summer has past, the equinox has brought autumn, a harvest super moon looms over head (as I embark on an illegal nocturnal mt. bike adventure), the kids are starting back at college, ML is back at work, and I’m about to take my first retirement adventure.
In looking back at the last couple of months, I can only relish how much fun stuff seems to happen all the time. Stay warm, stay posted…
You’re amazing. I hope your first retirement adventure is filled with awesomeness!! Love you bro!
