Sevilla-way, Pt. 4

In many cities, the queue of Segway visitors is not appealing. It has seemed a gimmicky, somewhat obtrusive, tourist-trap activity. However, when one has kids who require a little excitement, not to mention a break from walking, well, they’re just the ticket. While I’d avoided them in London, Paris, and Madrid, I acquiesced in Sevilla – and they’re awesome. It doesn’t look fun just standing there, but it is! You’re never just standing, and at the end of our hour and a half my Segway muscles were worn out. A further note: We’d booked with a big company, but couldn’t find parking (hectic frustration situation forgotten here). When we did find parking on the street, Charlie found another Segway tour company, and it was a score. Rosa, our guide, was fun, charming, and knowledgeable, but most of all a patient and encouraging teacher for those in our party that were somewhat thrown by the Segway dynamic.  In any case, pix & clips…

Madrid, Pt. 5

For our last day in Madrid, Halloween, we went to the Palacio Real, walked around the old part of town, and had two rounds of dinner (tapas). Outside the palace we were entertained by a bubbleman & glass musician. Inside, had to take clandestine pix in the Royal Palace, which means ceilings! We were allowed to photograph the contemporary art exhibit (which didn’t include the sculpture of my homie and the scary masks). Next: Sevilla…
